»Light & Built Heritage« - International Conference

The two-day international conference »Light & Built Heritage« will take place on Thursday, 28th and Friday 29th November, 2019 at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Wismar University of Applied Sciences, Technology, Business and Design. Experts from the fields of monument conservation, lighting design, architecture and architectural history will discuss the lighting of built heritage monuments and sites from different perspectives.

Hanseatic City of Wismar – 
UNESCO World
 Heritage Site

The »Light & Built Heritage« conference will take place in the Hanseatic City of Wismar on the Baltic Sea coast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The historic old town of Wismar was included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2002. Wismar began to bloom in the late Middle Ages, as evidenced by many historic buildings in the old town and the grand red brick Gothic churches.

Hochschule Wismar – Faculty of Architecture 
and Design

The conference will take place at the Faculty of Architecture and Design of the University of Applied Sciences Wismar. It was here that Jan Blieske, professor at the international master‘s course Architectural Lighting Design, and Dr.-Ing. Arnd Hennemeyer, professor for World Heritage Studies, began to develop »Light and lighting in built heritage« as an area of competence.
